A little history

In 1993 I was walking off the dune after giving a hang gliding lesson. I was standing outside of Kitty Hawk Kites next to my bombed-out /crazy-painted 1972 Volkswagen Van and up drives a perfect 1963 split window Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van. I could not believe when Francis Rogallo steps out. I had never seen it before, he said he drove it once a week around his neighborhood. Once a year he drove it to Manteo, on the Outer Banks, to get an inspection sticker. We talk for a few minutes ending with me saying: "If you are ever interested in selling it let me know." Rog responds that he has had many offers but never felt the desire to sell it. For over 30 years Rogallo kept every piece of the paper associated with the camper. Two weeks later he gives me a call.
